IPhone USB cable repair
My cord is currently sitting in two pieces, and I've been trying to find a DYI way to fix it, with no luck.
The connector end that plugs into the device itself ripped completely away from the cord. Is there any way to open that up and replace those connections? I do have access to a soldering iron and wire, as well as all the other typical electrical tools. Or would it just be better to hop on eBay and get a new one?
Go to any store that sells phone accessories and get a new cable.
USB connectors are available, but due to the cost of the connector
(not a lot, but still something) and the time and effort involved
in soldering it onto the wire, it's not the most sensible way to go.
The only real advantage would be that you could say you repaired it yourself.
That's not much of a reward…
In the same situation, I would go to a local store and buy a replacement cable.

Very frustrating.
In addition to doing occasional spot repairs of things, I've replaced
most of the resistors and capacitors in each of two old radios
and an old mono hifi integrated amplifier.
I need more… More… More…
… But I don't want to diddle around repairing USB cables!
