Is a Chromebook a good idea?

I think I've just about made my mind up on the next computer I'm buying. I've been considering a Chromebook recently and it offers basically all I should ever need. I'm looking at the $400 Samsung Series 5 550. Obviously, this won't be able to replace my desktop yet because I have an iPhone and an iPad that need syncing with iTunes and I also use Photoshop. Still, I can do most of my projects and the school newspaper on this and it will still work on my schools wireless network. Another plus is that I can type on it more quickly than I can on my iPad while taking notes in class. But what do you think? As in, am I going to regret this if I buy it?

Added (1). I was also looking at the $199 Acer Chromebooks, but I'm not sure about them.

In three months you shall think, why did I spend $400 for this when $400 could have bought me a Windows that allows me to use billions of programs?

Please slow down. I think you should get a chrome book as it is a good os that evoved from Linux. It is not linux but it was built from the Linux core just like LInux and Minux came from Unix. Now if I was you I would trash the I store stuff as it can help save money for other stuff. Also Googe Chome os is not the only option. You also have firefox os, and Chromium os whicth act the same but work on reguler computers and are free. NOw as for the preformace the Chromebook is not the best but for what it is it is not that bad. If you like how it works the get it. Don't listen to that guy who is a spamer.
