Is it a good idea or bad idea to get an iphone from walmart/target?

Added (1). usually go through carrier but since iphones are on sale at those stores for black friday, didn't know if there were hidden fees or if its a pain with the contract.

Why? The store is not too "fancy" enough? Its the same product for god's sake. Nothing different gonna happen.

As far as I know you end up with a contract with the same carriers, just be sure to check the terms of the service contract, in some cases the actual subsidized cost of the phone might be high.

It doesn't really matter where you get it other then price may be a little better in some places.

  • Would it be a bad idea to get an iphone 4? I can get it for free, but is it too old? Will I not be able to do things on it that I could on another phone? What are the pros and cons of getting it?
  • Walmart cellular plan/coverage good or bad? Thinking about switching to the Walmart cellphone service (or whatever you call it). I have AT&T right now and use an iPhone 4 alone with 3 others in my family. I'm pleased with AT&T except for how much it's costing. Is the cheap Walmart service good or is it hard to get service and not worth it?
  • Used iphone on ebay, good or bad idea? Thinking of buying a unlocked iphone on ebay. Is this a good idea? Will I have probs with activation? Can I use straight talk with it?
  • ITunes update idea, good or bad? Apple products are getting stolen and being sold for profit. But some iPhones have passwords and to remove is to restore backup from iTunes. My idea is if any iTunes account is on the phone, when you restore it will ask for password of the account on the phone. Rendering it useless for the thief or thieves. Is this idea good or bad? Or maybe it already exist?
