Is it still worth buying the iPhone 4s?

I'm due for an upgrade in January. I want an iPhone somewhat, but my parents will only let me get a free or really inexpensive phone (like maybe $20) but I also know it's pretty old and iOS 7 won't run too smoothly on it. My other option is a Galaxy S3 or 4 depending on its price in another month. Is it even worth getting the 4s? The screen is a lot smaller, but there's FaceTime, Emoji, iMessage, and all that Apple stuff. I've never had an Apple item before and I want to try it. If I don't like it as much as Samsungs I've had, I won't be too disappointed since iPhones are top of the line too.

Go for the 5.

I think if you have to get a free phone for your upgrade then the iPhone 4S would be worth it. Unless you prefer androids.

If you are truly depending on keeping that budget (and ok with androids) but still getting your moneys worth than I would be suggesting the Samsung Galaxy S4 as it is going on sale for free at Best Buy for Black Friday or the Nexus 4.
The 4s will not run as smoothly with iOS 7 like the 5 but it can still be installed.

4S is still a really good phone, people will be using it for several years from now even. Its not as good as 5C or 5S obviously but its also free on 2 year contract.

A iphone 5c you can still get for $50.

The screen is only.5" smaller than the 5, 5c, 5s for the record. Not exactly "a lot smaller".

I'd get the 4s. Still a capable phone, still gets updates the day they are released, not packed with gimmicky features, better built as well.

  • Is the iPhone 5s still worth buying or would I wait for the iPhone 6? So I've been iPhone 4 for about a year now and I decided to have an upgrade because it's running so slow on iOS 7:c I'm wondering if the 5s is still new and up to date because the iPhone 6 is coming up and Apple usually buries their older iPhones when two years go by. Like is it worth getting the 5s rather than waiting on the 6 and is it still up to date with technology right now
  • Is the iPhone 4 still worth buying? - 1 I don't have the money to buy a new iPhone, and I can get an iPhone 4 (not 4s) from someone I know for 50$. Is it worth it? I heard that with the new iOS7.1 it might not be worth it because the system is so new. Is this true? I need it to function as a phone of course, but also to play music, possibly surf the internet, and have a decent amount of apps that I know I would use a lot. Opinions? Or should I search somewhere else for a newer version at a later date?
  • Is the iphone 3G still worth buying in 2012? My old android broke so I needed a replacement - I looked on ebay and found a refurbished iphone 3G for about £120.So I'm not sure if an iphone released in 2008 will still be very good in 2012. Opinions?
  • Is th iPhone 3GS still worth buying? I want to get a smartphone and I can get an iPhone 3GS for only 100 dollars (factory unlocked and brand new).Is it really outdated or is it still pretty efficient?
