No it's really not worth it. Especially if it wasn't unlocked from the beginning, and jailbroken iPhones tend to behave terribly. I wouldn't advise you to buy from Ebay anyway. Most of their phones have bad esn. You best bet is to get a 4 or 4s. Depending on what company you have, you can get that phone for cheap.

If you want a phone the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5 is your best bet. The iPhone 4 is something to look a lot closer into since the specs aren't that great. But in your situation the iPhone 4 may be the best for you since its pretty cheap. It has support from apple and does what you need it to do.
It is better to at least get the iphone 5 you can get them much cheaper since then 5s is coming out
