Yes, yes there's… I'm a big fan and the iphone 5 has much less lag, opens things faster, and i think the longer display is nice for video lover. Camera is also a bit improved…
They are literally the same phone. I have used my friends and here is what I have noticed:
Slight change in design. New, stronger material is used.
Screen is taller (obviously)
New cable to connect phone to outlet/computer.
Slightly faster (sometimes not faster at all, sometimes up to 2 seconds faster)
The 4S has 3G, the 5 has LTE.
If money is tight, get the 4S. If you have money to spend, get the 5 and enjoy it.

I feel as if they apple purposely slows down the previous iphone so people buy the newest model I recommend the iphone 5 it's very snappy and the design is great
Yes, There's a change in the iphone 4s and the 5. These changes are-faster processor, lighter design, better graphics, bigger display, improved front facing & rear facing cameras, more RAM, louder speakers, faster data speeds.
It would be ironic if they were very similar…

BTW, one thing that they have in common is that no matter which one you have, you could have used it to find your answers.
