Is there an AirPlay Alternative for iPhone, Older iPad or Mac computers?

I need to know this for sharing photos wirelessly between older Apple devices.

There's an Airplay alternative for older iOS and OSX devices in the form of iPhoto. Of course, it's not as full-featured as AirPlay file & photo sharing on iOS 7 and above, but it does the job if you have an older iPad or iPhone, or if you want to transfer pics between your iOS devices and Mac computer.

The same thing applies if you have an older version of iOS 7 on any of your Apple devices -- e.g., iOS 6 or iOS 5.1.1

Basically, by using the iPhoto app, you can beam photos, slideshows and albums between Apple gadgets without requiring the Wi-Fi capability of AirPlay, or other cables, messaging systems, or even iTunes.

While Wi-Fi is recommended for iPhoto file sharing, you can make do with Bluetooth as well. Just open the photo you want to send and select "Share" followed by the "Beam" button option.

For sending and receiving files through iPhoto, the iPhoto app should be running up front on the receiver's device and Wireless Beaming should be active.
