Issue with text messages on iphone 4s?

So i've had this issue for a while and if someone could give be even a little bit of info, it would be much appreciated.
So, Over the past year, i have had an iphone 3gs, a samsung galaxy s3, and now i have an iphone 4s. The reason everytime that i got a new phone was because randomly, my texts would just stop sending, like it would just say "message send failure" and i couldnt receive texts either. I also couldnt get or receive calls. I have realized that this started happening when i started texting my one friend, it only happened when i would text him. I proved this by texting him from my moms phone and texting noone else, and the same thing happened to her phone.
i'm just wondering what could be wrong with his phone that is doing this? It only affects my phone, everyone else he texts doesn't have a problem. Hes with telus so could be bring it in and ask him what's up?

  • Why is my iPhone5 sending some messages as iMessage and others as Text Messages? I understand that messages are sent as Text Messages when there's no signal or poor Wi-Fi connection. However, I'm successfully texting some people using iMessage but others (still iPhone users) as Text messages. The other person will send iMessages and then my responses will be sent as green Text Messages.
  • When I receive text messages with emojis from an iPhone, why do the messages only appear partially? My phone is a "Verizon Samsung Intensity II" slide phone. (Also it's blue but that doesn't matter.) Also, if I'm included in an iPhone group chat (spoiled rich friends, but not snobby…), I get each posted message as a separate message, so I'll end up randomly with 67 unread messages clogging up my inbox.
  • What does sent as a text message mean? (iphone issue)? So, i've been using a iphone 5 for a month and i just realized that when i'm using sms, usually my texts send as "green balloons" but sometimes the color turns "blue"and says "sent as a text message" i'm confused lil bit:/ what does "sent as a text message" mean? And what's the difference between blue and green texts. Will it send to different message box or shows different to who i text? sorry for not my native english.
  • IPhone with ios7 Text Message Issue? I want to erase my entire thread of messages on my iPhone 4. With ios 6 i would slide to the left and click delete. But now when i do it the thread is gone until i get a text from the person and the whole thread is back. How do i delete the texts permanently?
