It my baby boy advanced for his age?

I would like a child development expert to respond to my question. I have a baby boy who is 10 months old now. I think he is advanced and his behavior has me intrigued. Some examples of his behavior are: he likes to play the piano and drum, he is always making sounds or noises with his mouth or toys all the time, he looks concentrated when listening to music, he is moving his arms as if he's dancing without any reason, if he wants something he will pursue it relentlessly, he is having a tantrum just for few seconds if he can't touch my Ipad/Iphone or TV control, he is throwing toys on the table/floor just to watch how they fall and sound, and he will bother us until we share our food with him. I can see he has determination and character already. He is not sleeping well recently and I don't know the cause. It looks like he doesn't want to be alone. Also, he started to walk with no help but he can walk only 6 steps. He wants to climb on everything and can climb a flight of stairs. He is throwing his toys only to chase after them. He was trying to open our front door too. Are these signs that our boy is advanced?

To be honest he sounds right on track! You sound like a very attentive and keen mother! Continue to let him explore.

I'm no expert… But have two children of my own who are now four and eight…

i also worked in the baby/toddler room at a day care for years…

your baby sounds very average to me…

everyone likes to think their baby is "smarter" than everyone elses… This is rarely the case…

He sounds average. I have 2 kids and my 2nd is 9months now and she's walking already.

I know you want to think your child is special, but the truth is he sounds pretty normal to me. My son was the same way and sure there are some things he's done before his playmates and cousins his age, but there are things they did before him. All babies develop differently, but as far as certain things go they all fall into the same developmental stage and the things you described are what most 10 month olds do. Don't be disappointed though because, this is a sign he's normal and healthy.

I'm a qualified nursery nurse and work with young children and I'm pretty up to date with child development. He sounds pretty much on track to me, if he's walking alone that sounds slightly advanced but 10 months isn't unusually early as most start to walk around 11-13 months. He sounds like a very inquisitive baby.
