Laptop will NOT connect to Wi-Fi?

Ok we'll for awhile my dad had wireless turned off from the router. Today I came home and he had it on but changed the password. Everyone else's devices connected, iPhone, iPod, ps3, desktop, and my moms iPad I'm using.
Well I was finally happy to see it back on and when I went on my Toshiba it wouldn't connect. So, since he had the password changed I went to the properties and changed it to the new. Well, that didn't work. I did everything I possibly could! I changed multiple settings in many ways, but no matter what I did it wouldn't connect.
So, my dad is. I guess you could say an "expert" when it comes to wireless stuff and computers/devices. Well he did everything he could and NOTHING worked. So I restarted my laptop and that was the only thing I didn't do. And no it still did not work.

** Info to help you help me ** ;

- My router name and connection are showing, but it just won't connect
- My router has been fully unplugged and more, but nothing
- Ethernet cable isn't an option, my parents are asleep
- I personally can't touch the router or mess with it
- My laptop settings are fine
- Other devices including my dads desktop are connected, it's just mine that won't
- My laptop is a Toshiba; it's never had this problem before.

Please reinstall your os and restart the device.

1. If your dad enabled MAC address filter either blacklist or white list your lap won't work until ud MAC address is added or removed from router. You have to add your MAC address to White list to make it access or you have to remove your mac address from blacklist. You can do it by using any connected device by going to router settings(192.168.1.1 is used for router settings)
2. Second problem is that there may be some limitations for number of devices connected to your router. You can change this by going to router settings.
Hope it may help you.

You can try to reset to factory settings your router. There should be a little hole on your router where you can use a pin a hold it for 10 seconds and it will return to factory settings. If everyone else but you can connect then maybe your laptops Wi-Fi card is bad. Try going somewhere where there's free internet like McDonald's, Burger King, Starbucks and see if you can connect there. If you can't the Wi-Fi card needs to be replaced. Also make sure when you try to connect to your Wi-Fi you do it in the same room where the router is. Hope this helps!

Listen kid. We weren't born yesterday. Your Dad is asleep remember? Do you honestly think we don't realize he set time limits for you on the router?

Note: A password that can help protect wireless network from unauthorized access. So only one who can access the internet who has the key,…
sorry.

If you are using windows 7:

open the Wi-Fi menu and go to network and sharing center.
on the left, go to "manage wireless networks"
select your router and remove it.
your computer should autoscan for networks. Just connect to the "new" router like normal

if your are using XP, Vista or 8, it shoul be something similar to the above instructions.

  • Why does my Wi-Fi connect to my ipad and iphone but not my laptop? My Wi-Fi on my laptop will say its connecting but then doesn't. It says my cord is broken or not plugged in but I've checked it and there's nothing wrong. My Wi-Fi connects fine to my iPad and iPhone. Not understanding why it won't connect to my laptop anymore.
  • One laptop can connect to our home Wi-Fi network but no other devices can connect? We recently set up a wireless internet connection in our house. One laptop can connect to it (the one I'm currently on) but no other devices can connect to it. It says our "Network Security Key" is mismatched. I have tried typing in all the different codes on both the router and modem on both our second laptop and an iPhone 5. How can I fix this?
  • My Wi-Fi won't connect on my laptop but will connect to my other devices (an iPhone and iPad)? I have a MacBook Air. Sometimes it does connect but other times it just won't. It takes ages connecting and then in the end comes up with the exclamation mark or is just blank. Is this a problem with my laptop? I've tried researching the problem but have found nothing.
  • My laptop will not connect to Wi-Fi I have a HP Envy dv6 running on Windows 8 pro & it will not connect to Wi-Fi. It says "Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration" every time I try to connect. My iphone & ipad connects just fine. Its only my laptop. I've tried resetting the router & rebooting the computer several time. It allowed me to connect fine with a ethernet cable. I just can't connect wirelessly. Can anybody help?
