MacBook Pro or the next iPhone?

So I'm wondering what I should buy. I've actually been saving my money for a while as I have been intending to purchase the next iPhone when it is released. Recently though, I have developed interest in purchasing a MacBook. I'm only a teenager so if I was to get one, it would only be a second-hand one from eBay or a trading shop such as Cex. It would also probably have to be 13" and not the most
recent of models.
I currently have a Packard Bell laptop running Windows 7. It had been going horribly slow to the point where I gave up even trying to go on the internet without difficulty. That's why I started wanting a MacBook. Recently though, my laptop seems to have a new lease of life and is running very smoothly with little to no speed delays. The only problem it seems to have is quickly overheating, though that is not uncommon from my understanding. I only really use my laptop for general internet use and Microsoft Office for homework.
Aside from all this, I also really want the next model of iPhone. I'm currently using an iPhone 4S and recently it is not running well. It crashes often, freezes frequently and often dies and tells me to plug it in when the battery level is as high as 40%. All in all it is just not running as an accessible phone should.
So what I want to know is, what is the best buy? A new iPhone or a MacBook? MacBook would be stretching my expenses but would it be worth it or is it best to stick around with my Packard Bell?

If your Packard bell is working fine and smoothly, go with the next iPhone! The price differences vary a lot between the macbookpro and the iPhones. MAcBooks can range from 800-1000 dollars where as the iPhones can range from 200-500

I would say go for a laptop, but not a MacBook. Lenovo's laptops are cheap, and good. As r answered, the price range really does matter. By going with a laptop, you can still have the functionality of a phone (minus the data). You can still make calls through Wi-Fi using Google Voice, text through Pinger, and surf the web/watch YouTube videos on a bigger screen.
