Problem trying to update iOS 7 Beta?

I have an iPhone 5, and I download these 2 files:
iPhone5, 1_7.0_11A4372q_Restore.ipsw
iPhone5, 2_7.0_11A4372q_Restore.ipsw

Whenever I hold shift (on a PC) and click check for update, I select either file, and for both I get an error message saying: "The iPhone ___ could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible

my iPhone is 6.1.4, it's restored, my iTunes is up to date.

What do I do!

Sweetie, there's no iOS beta release. This is a lie someone has told you. The files you downloaded are probably, no doubt, spam or viruses. Delete them before your computer gets messed up. Apple does not beta test their iOS. I'm sorry.

Pretty sure I know what is happening.
Where did you find this iOS 7?

You shouldn't update in this time, it's not stable, but if you want to update, you need a developer account (99$/year) or request someone have a developer account add UDID for active your device, you can search in Fiverr or fivesquids.co.uk
Something like this:
http://fiverr.com/apple_review/activate-your-udid-to-have-ios-7-on-your-iphone-within-5-minutes

You need to check the source that you got the IPSW files from and then probably chose a different one. The IPSW file depends on everything. It depends on what company the phone is for, the make/model of the device and even how many GB it has and so it is very important that you have one that actually matches your device.

They are probably dodgy. I updated my 4S to beta 7 through registering my UDID for $9, which is more reasonable that $99. Anyway, though the update messed up a bit I got there. Bear in mind it takes roughly 24 hours to activate your UDID due to high demand. The iOS itself is quite buggy in some places and some of your most used apps (Catch, CNN) tend to crash every time you launch them but that's to be expected, this is Beta 1. Otherwise, the new look is great and all apple-standard apps work smoothly.

  • Trying to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 beta 5, but not updating? I downloaded the iOS 7 beta 5 CDMA file off of ios7stuff.com and I tried updating my phone with the file and my iTunes has been saying "Verifying updated iPhone software" for almost 20 minutes, and my phone screen turned black with the Apple and updating status bar but the update isn't starting. Help! and I do not have a UDID I also have been using iOS 7 beta 3 for a while but it didn't update to beta 4 or 5 which is why I tried downloading beta 5 directly.
