Restoring a new iphone from an older backup?
My mom just got the iphone 6s and her old one was a 5s i believe. I did a backup of the old phone, and now trying to up that on the new phone. When I first tried it said it can't be restored because the software on the iphone is too old. (to restore this iphone from this backup, you just first set up a new iphone and restore the software to the lastest version.) So i started a new iphone and when i click the restore back up the one i need isn't there. But when i go to preferences I can see the backup i need so it does exist. I don't know what it wants me to do. Am I suppose to update the old iphone and then back it up? I'm not even sure if it has a new update. And we don't even have icloud set up but if anything i guess thats the next option.

Can't, 6s does not take 5s backup.
Mkay.
Your mom s old iPhone 5s is still available? Well, I think there are several ways.
You can use a phone transfer software to transfer data from iPhone 5s to iPhone 6s.
If you have kept backups on iCloud, you can also restore to the iPhone 6s as well.
In addition, you can extract data from iPhone 5s to PC, and then import them to the new iPhone 6s.
And some data extractor software can help directly extract iCloud or iTunes backup data to your iPhone device. Maybe you can try iSkysoft iPhone Data Recovery, which should be helpful.
- Why does restoring my iphone from a backup use up so many gigabytes? I have an iphone 5 and I'm trying to restore my phone from last backup. Unfortunately, the back up is cancelled about 30 minutes in because my hard disk runs out of space. I have 10 gigs left so there should be any problem with that. I went to mobilesync folder and then to the backup folder and there's one folder there. Once you click on that folder there are thousands of files in that folder that have several modified dates on them. Basically can I just delete the old dated files?
- What does restoring my iphone from a backup mean? So I got an iphone 5s for Christmas 2013. Which option should I pick because I don't know what restore from this back up means! Will option number 2 erase all my content and everything

- Restoring iPhone from backup? I got a new iPhone yesterday and there has been some confusion and I lost everything. I backed up my old iPhone in July and I was wondering if I can plugged my new phone to get that backup. I'm just scared because once you plug your phone in it backs up that phone. & I've been using my new iphone and it already has like apps and stuff on it. How can I get the back up data onto my new phone? Does it give me the option when I plug my phone in?
