Should I buy a laptop or an iPhone? - 1

I have a desktop in the house already but I was wondering if I should get a laptop for traveling and stuff or an iphone for all my apps and my friends have ios devices so we could imessage.

Laptops are the portable version of a desktop. If you plan to be doing the same things away from home that you do at home on the desktop, get a laptop. But if you plan to just do "social" or "fun" things away from home, get a tablet or iPhone. Heavy-duty work, like typing long documents, spreadsheets, things that require mice and keyboards, etc., are best done on a desktop or laptop. Other stuff like simple games, communicating with friends and family, and light work like keeping notes (if they aren't too lengthy), can be more practical on a tablet or smartphone.

As far as smartphones and tablets go, tablets are good when screen size and long use are important. Smartphones are good when maximum portability is important. If you want to carry it everywhere in a pocket, get a smartphone. If you plan to mostly sit in one place and use it, like home or a restaurant or coffee shop or classroom, get a tablet.

For smartphones and laptops, the best brand is Apple. For desktops and laptops, any brand that runs Windows is preferable. People who bash iPhones and iPads are usually just too poor to be able to afford them.

There are many tablets available that's between a laptop and a phone. But since you wish to be in the apple ecosystem get the iPad (if you already have a phone. Any phone) iPad has most of the apps you need. Not as many as the iPhone but still more than any other tablet.
i'm not an apple fan anymore iim switching to Microsoft (surface 2) just to try it.
an iPad is a better partner while travelling imo. Be sure to get the Wi-Fi+SIM model.
