Should i just give up on my singing?

I'll put this on Society and Culture just because nobody answers. So I have an app on my iPhone called Sing! Karaoke where you can sing along with songs. My friends tell me that I'm really good but I just keep putting myself down. When I listen to Ariana Grande or Mariah Carey or even another girl on Sing, I just keep saying "I'll never be as good as them" and "I'll never be as talented". I never really considered being a singer because I want to be an actress. I really don't know what to do about it.

You can't really say that one person is better than another at singing, as it is all about uniqueness. If you build your confidence up and make sure that you are original, then you will be fine. Just keep in mind that it is a tough industry and depending on where you come from and how successful you are can be a low paid gig.

Stop comparing yourself to others. There can only be one mariah or ariana. You don't want to be their copycats. You want to be your own gurl and be the best of who you are.remember that old line that says, there will always be a greater or lesser person than us. So no use comparing yourself to others.believe in yourself.keep the faith.keep practicing your skills that you thought you have. All great singers and actors now were yesterday's fledgeling wannabes.kudos!

If your friends tell you you are good then you probably are and that's the same way lots of great artist get to where they are now

Any good performer should be able to at least carry a tune vocally that is. It takes too long to find buckets with holes in them.
you should work on good vocals, as in speech, especially accents that are passable, a bit of dance, to atv least understand body movement and of course, read and perform such authors as Shakespeare, Ibsen and Albee.
To be a good performer, you need to enjoy your work, as in doing it, and immerse yourself in the character and situation as if it is your life.
If you want film, build up your health and stamina. Eat intelligently but well for your body type, stay fit, and innure yourself to rejection. There will be days when your not the one. You may be better, but your not in the directors vision. You must become that vision within yourself without the director. Good and great performers do this all the time.
Now, back to the music: Learn all types from classical to jazz, work your voice with a good teacher.
You can be like Mariah, although I would set your sights on Streisand.
Ms. Carey Can't hold a whole note for 16 beats.Ms. Streisand can and has (look for the song 'Woman In Love from the late 70s) It is not the variability of a voice, even birds warble like they can't find the note, It is the strength, control and power behind the voice, which comes from the singer and her training.
So yes do try at least to sing well, and find a good teacher. Good signing IS acting, only with just the voice.
BUT it does take work, serious practice and an unwavering determination to try and succeed.
of course as long as you thing or actually say " I'll never be like them" You will be your biggets door stop. So is it "I'll never be like them", or "I'll never be like them, I'll be better".
THAT choice is yours alone.
