Someone stole something expensive from my bag while it was in their car?
A friend, not a good friend, offered me a ride to a greyhound station Friday morning. I put one bag in his trunk Thursday night around 10pm assuming it'd be in his car for 12hrs and it'd be fine. I didn't want to take my bag to class, so I packed clothes, beauty necessities, a mophie case for my iPhone 5 and a blanket. My bag was full so the blanket took forever to squeeze in!
The next day at the station, he handed me my bag and my blanket, SEPARATELY, he said "hey this blanket was in my trunk I wasn't sure if it was yours or not because I only saw you come down with a bag" I KNEW that blanket was IN my bag but I didn't want to make a big scene. That day when I got home and unpacked I realized my mophie case was gone. This case cost me $150; obviously him or someone went through my bag because my blanket was OUT of my bag and now my mophie case is gone.
Can I file a police report? Can I do anything about this situation? Isn't there stealing and violation of privacy? He's offering to buy me a new case but I'm not happy with that because he said it'll take him months to get that money together.
Added (1). It's a case that charges your phone and yes I have the receipt.

What is a mophie? Got your receipts for this whatever thing proving the value?
You can tell this guy that you will have to file a police report for insurance replacement. Then see if he admits anything or gets nervous. Perhaps someone else used his car during the day. Ask him if anyone else was in the car. If he did not know you left the bag in the car I don't think you can be reimbursed.
- Will car insurance cover stolen good, while it was under their care? I had an accident, State Farm towed it to some salvage yard, got it back, camera, registration, spare tire, iPhone charger, battery pack, limited edition pocket knife all gone! Change jar cleaned out, and EZ pass used. I called State Farm, and they are closed. I'm so vexed right now.

Someone turned it in and when I got it back all there stuff was on it. I go to try and rest the phone but it says I have to have there password to rest it. So I don't know what to do.
- Is it normal to feel guilty after buying something expensive for yourself? My dad bought me a iPhone 4S because i really wanted one and because he said i deserved it and i needed a phone. I previously had a cheap android phone that i rarely used. I feel guilty for wasting my dads hard earned money and i feel like i'm spoiled and i don't deserve it. I do get good grades though. Any ideas to help me stop feeling guilty please? Its eating me up. My dad said that its okay and we still has a lot of money. But i still feel guilty.
