Tracking devices for iphones?

Ok so i haven't lost my iphone or anything, but i was just wondering what would happen in the event i did lose it or it was stolen, how would i track it?

Well for a start i know there's the apps like "find my iphone" but for that to work you need to have GPS enabled on your phone and hope to god the thief didn't turn it off because if he did then obviously it renders the app useless

So i was thinking about different methods to tracking it, some form of chip you could place inside your phone so that if it was stolen you didn't need to rely on the phone to be on to track it, you could use the chip instead (because the thief wouldn't be able to get into the phone to remove it)

So does anyone know if there's anything like that for iphones? Or chips that size that could be fitted to an iphone?

There's more than one chip inside the iPhone that permits identification and, up to a point, localization - whenever you switch on the telephone, whenever you connect to a data network, whenever you connect with apple. GPS localization is just the icing on the cake.

Technically, it wouldn't be a problem to switch on GPS localization remotely - androidlost ( http://www.androidlost.com/ ) can do that on a stolen Android phone. The problem is - who do you want to be able to localize your phone? Your family? The police? Your girlfriend/wife? The phone's manufacturer?

I have not tried but i'm bit sure of this.
Mobile tracking apps are generally lock the phone when sim changed and automatically ON GPS on that phone. I think you can rely on Mobile tracking app.
Best way to find is to install it on your device and try changing sim, see what happens.

Put a pass code on your iPhone and enable restrictions on location tracking. Then the thief can't turn off GPS.
