Unlocked iPhone 5 on Family Mobile not getting 3G service

I have a factory unlocked (AT&T) iPhone 5 on the family mobile plan. I have all of the correct apn settings in but I do not get 3g service. It's not the area, because my step-mom has the same exact phone, factory unlocked, all the same settings, but side by side her phone will get 3G but mine will not. I only get E (Edge) service. However, going through a nearby city I did pick up 3G service but not for long at all.

Does anybody know what the cause would be?

I have tried restoring the phone, hard-resetting, turning cellular data off, turning 3g off and on.tried all of that multiple times. Nothings working.

Any ideas?

You might NOT have the exact same phone, there are several different iPhone 5 models, "family mobile" 3G might be on a frequency that "your iPhone 5" doesn't have.

  • Will an unlocked iPhone 3GS work with family mobile with all capabilities? My moms getting family mobile from Walmart to save money and I wanted to use an unlocked iPhone 3GS. Will it work with all capabilities?

  • Unlocked Iphone t-mobile no service problem? So i bought a prepaid activation kit from amazon and activated it today. I inserted the micro into my factory unlocked iphone 4 and the No service text shows. I really don't know why this is happening. I'm pretty sure its factory unlocked and i put $30 in the account. I'm running ios 5.1.1.
