Want to upgrade to an iphone on verizon family plan?

Okay so my dad currently pays a family plan that has four lines on it (1400 minutes and unlimited msgs), but my current phone can be upgraded now. Our whole family has the basic phones, nothing fancy. I'm 17 and fortunately got a job and I've been saving up money to purchase and pay for my own phone now. So if I get an iphone will the family plan remain the same only that I would have to pay $60 more for the 2GB data plan right?
Cause there's this new share everything plan that costs $40 and I'm confused wether or not that will be charged on the monthly bill if I do get an iPhone. I'm confused D;

The only way your family can keep their grandfathered plan (non-Share Everything plan) is if they have a data plan that you can use. Because of the new Share Everything plan you can't add or change anything with your current plan.
If you do have the data plan on your current family plan you will have to purchase the phone outright. You will not be able to get the subsidized price that you normally would with your upgrade. If your family does not have the Share Everything plan than you won't have to pay anything different because you don't have that plan.
That $40 is the access fee for a smartphone for the Share Everything plan. How that plan works is you have an access fee for each device ($40 for a smartphone and $30 for a basic phone) and then a pool of Shareable data that you pay for as well.

  • Something about exceeding my data allowance under my Verizon family shared plan? So here's the deal: I have a family plan with 4GB data plan and unlimited text and call which costs 50 bux per month, but what happens if I exceed the total data allowed? I'm a iphone photographer which requires me to constantly upload photos to Instagram almost everyday, and I'm really afraid of being charged a lot if I exceed the total data allowed…
  • Prices for Verizon family plan? My dad has an android from Verizon with unlimited everything and I might get and iPhone 4 from Verizon also with unlimited everything would it be cheaper to have the phone by itself (and how much) or to put it on a family plan with my dad? And how much will the family plan cost a month with 2 smartphones?
  • How To Get Out Of A Verizon Family Plan Without Paying A Termination Fee? As You Know It's Around Christmas Time And I'd Like To Get An IPhone 5. The Only Way I'm Aloud To Get That Is If I Join Sprint (Best Family Plans). My Contract Doesn't End Until April 16th And I Really Want The IPhone 5 for Christmas Like I said but The Termination Fees are really Expensive and I have about 5 lines on my plan.
  • How much would an iPhone 5 cost with T-Mobile Family Plan upgrade? I want an iPhone 5 on my T-Mobile family plan but I need to know how much it would cost first. ~4 Lines ~3 4G data plans ~2 lines limited talk and text before 9:00 pm (Not including Mobile To Mobile)
