What happens if i take the sim card out my iphone 5c and put it back in?

I just got an iPhone 5s from a friend but it didn't have a sim card, when I reset it i couldn't set it up without a sim card so i want to use my cousin's. I think that if i take it out then some of her memory might be deleted but i'm not sure.

I think you get a sim card, install it, call the wireless carrier company, and they activate the phone. Some phones need sims cards. Lots of smart phones don't need a sims card. They use different technology. Maybe you took the memory card out. It is an SD card or microSD - something like that. That is non essential to the phone operating. It keeps the pictures. If it was a sims card for like a flip phone, you could take it out and put it back in as much as you wish without any problem. But, the card has to be activated for the phone to work. You can't just pop any ole sims card in and expect the phone to work.

The SIM card only holds a very small amount of info. It is usually the codes necessary to connect to the carrier and a small amount of contacts. Removing your cousin's SIM from her phone won't cause her to loose any data; the phone just won't be able to call, receive calls, texts and mobile data. Now, make sure that your cousin's SIM card is the same that the 5C uses. Any more questions, ask.

The only way you can have the same number if its from the same company life if yours is from t-mobile and his is from metro you would have to go to metro

  • What Happens When You Take The Sim Card Out Of An Iphone 4s? If I Take The Sim Card Out Will I Still Be Able To Use My IPhone? What Features Will Work And What Features Won't? Will My Contacts/Notes/Texts Etc. Be Erased? Can I Still Get On The Internet If I Have Wi-Fi? Can I Still Use Maps On My IPhone?
  • What happens if I put the SIM card of a non smartphone into and iPhone? I use AT&T and I have an HTC but it isn't a smart phone. So if I cut the SIM card into a nano SIM card, which is used for iPhones, and put it in an iPhone 4S, will the phone work? Also I do not use data on my phone, only texting and calling and I'm not telling the AT&T people because they would make me get an iPhone which I can't do until my contract ends next year or ill have to pay 300 dollars.

  • What happens if I put a regular AT&T SIM card in a iPhone 3GS? Will they start charging me? Or can I just use the iPhone as a phone on the go and just use Wi-Fi? I already keep it in for 10min and called someone but I don't want them to charge me. Any ideas?
