What is a good international texting app?

My girlfriend of over a year is studying abroad in Spain for the next7 months. Right now we're using Vapor and it's alright but I was wondering if anyone had any other good suggestions. I need something that is completely free with no hidden charges. It's alright if Wi-Fi is needed, that shouldn't be much of an issue.

I have an iPhone 4S & I'm looking for a good FREE texting app. My friend got in trouble for talking to me because we're both on probation & I need a free texting app so I can text her from a different number acting like somebody else. I have looked & I can't find any good ones. She told me to download text us but I can't find it in my App Store. Suggestions?
