Where to get an unlocked iphone 4s that is Tmobile compatible?

I want to get an Iphone 4s. Now the situation is that I want to be able to take my sim card out of my current tmobile phone, and put it into an iphone 4s. I need an iphone 4s that is "unlocked". From my understanding, an unlocked phone is a phone that will work with any carrier, but i'm not entirely sure if I'm correct about that. So basically, I need to know where to get an unlocked iphone 4s that will work fully and properly with my current tmobile simcard that i can put into the iphone 4s once i get it. Keep in mind, I'm going to be paying the same amount and same phone bill- I'm NOT cancelling my contract or switching carriers. I just want a new cell phone. I need help on how to do this, and answers to where i can buy this phone to do what i'm saying I'd like to do.

1. I will assume you're in the US.

2. The 4S SIM card slot will not work in the US, with any American carrier. This is by design. The idea of the 4S is that it's used in the US on one of the CDMA carriers (Verizon or Sprint) with the capability of using it overseas on GSM networks (there are practically NO countries outside the US and Canada that use CDMA… Everything is GSM).

3.So, if you're visiting Europe, for example, you can have the carrier unlock the phone, buy a regional SIM card for the country you're visiting, and off you go. But that SIM slot will NOT work with a US T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card.

4. Right now, there's NO model of the iPhone available anywhere that will fully work with T-Mobile's US network. You can use an unlocked GSM version (i.e., from AT&T) for calls, texts and 2G/EDGE data. But it will not use T-Mobiles 3G/4G HSPA+ network because the frequency channels don't match.

5. T-Mobile US will be releasing the iPhone sometime this year, if you're patient.

6. I fail to understand the freakish desire to own one of these devices. There are so many faster, more powerful and higher quality devices available right now… From T-Mobile… That as far as I can tell, people only want these to be part of some cult. I don't know if that's you, but I'm just sayin'.

It's just a cell phone.

TMobile is getting iphone this year, might want to just wait.

  • Will I get 4G on my iPhone 4S unlocked from AT&T to tmobile? Will I get 4G if i unlock my iPhone 4S from AT&T to T-Mobile? Also, Last weekend I asked a T-Mobile rep if they could unlock my iPhone 5 from AT&T to T-Mobile and they said they could, so I was wondering if they can also unlock iPhone 4S's? And have 4g
  • Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
