Why do we have to pay full price to replace a lost sprint iphone?

My bestfriend is on a plan with her boyfriend and she lost the phone. Today she had to pay 728 to get a new one. I know that sprint does not cover lost phones but why can't we pay regular price to replace the lost ones

Regular price is the full price that she paid. The prices you get when you start a plan or get an upgrade are discounted to encourage you to stay with the company. If she didn't want to pay $700 she should have gotten a cheaper phone or a refurbished phone.

Actually the "regular price" *is* $728. The much cheaper price ($200?) you pay when you get a new phone is a *discounted* price that you only can get when you are starting or renewing a contract.

Next time you or your friend lose a phone, remember that you don't have to replace it with a brand new one from your phone company, you can also buy a used one like on eBay; as long as it's from the same phone company and it wasn't ever lost or stolen it should be OK (for instance a Verizon phone is the only phone that works with Verizon).

$728 was the full price and regular price. The only reason you got a cheaper price for the phone originally was because you signed a contract saying that you will pay for service for 2 years. These contracts run at about $3, 000 without even having any smartphones. My contract costs $6000 a year with 2 smart phones. So obviously Sprint doesn't mind giving you a cheaper phone when you commit that much money. It's better to keep a backup smartphone from a previous contract that way if your iPhone gets lost, stolen, or broken, you can just replace it and deal with a slightly worse smartphone for a few months.

  • Why do I have to pay full price for T- Mobile iPhone 5? Ok so I went to the tmobile store to upgrade my old basic phone for the new iPhone 5 16gb and the rep told me that I had to pay the full cost ($579, i believe). On the ad it shows $99 for the 16gb! The plan I have right now is the Shared Classic Unlimited-Talk + Text, so I don't know if the plan is the problem or what? I also have no data added. Maybe that's why. Anyways if someone could help me I would really appreciate it.
  • Should I buy an iPhone on a plan or should I pay for the full price upfront? What are pros and cons? To be honest I want to pay for it upfront because buying it on a plan feels like I'm just renting it. I want to feel like I actually own the phone. But everyone in my family is on a plan and they say it's cheaper because they get free texts and stuff. I don't know what to do? I know, first world problems but please help me. Plan or upfront?
  • Lost iPhone 5s, Is sprint aware if your iPhone is in Lost Mode? I lost my iPhone 5s today. I enabled the lost mode in the phone and I'm currently tracking it. Does sprint know when a iPhone is in lost mode? Does it know if you lost your iPhone and your tracking it?
  • Is it cheaper to lease a phone than pay the full price? I really want the new iPhone Xs Max but I can't afford to pay full price, on the sprint website it says an 18 month lease would be 45 a month plus 40 for service so 85 a month. Would that be cheaper than full price? I've never leased a phone before. I always get cheap phones but now I want an iPhone.
