Why does my singing voice sound strange when I record it?

So when I sing, I feel like my voice is pretty strong and powerful and loud but then when I record it, it's the opposite. It sounds weak and low. I record my singing from iPad and iPhone by making video. I want to know if my voice is just weak like that or is it because of the devices I'm using to record myself? Because I heard people say that when you hear yourself sing, it'll sound different to the others or when you record it. But I'm not sure my voice would be that bad and weak.

The recording quality of iPhone is bad, I know this very well as an iPhone user.

Your voice doesn't sound to you as it sounds to others. The one you heard on the recording is probably closer to reality. If you want to improve your singing, go for offline lessons with a fully trained teacher, it's the only way to learn all the singing techniques safely, without damaging your voice.

How your voice sounds when you record it is nearer to what other people hear than what you hear when you are singing. So, if your voice sounds bad and weak on a recording that is going to be very close to what it sounds like to everyone else. To improve you need to have offline singing lessons.

  • Will my singing voice sound better recorded on a professional mic in a studio? & does it get edited? All I have to record me singing is my iPhone & I think I sound awful over that & it makes me sad & say horrible things that I suck
  • Why does my singing voice sound so different when recorded? When I sing on the voice memo thing on my iPhone my voice sounds kinda odd. It doesn't really sound that good. When I sing out load or on a microphone my voice sounds really good. Like, I just downloaded a microphone app and when I sang into it I can hear my voice live And it sounded good. Why does it sound different when I record it on my iPhone? It's not off pitch or anything it just seems weird and less "singy" I can't really explain it.
  • Why do I sound better lip singing? When recorded direct on iPhone it's terrible! But when I record it and then film me lip singing to my voice it sounds a lot better Why… Has it happened to you?
  • What app can I use to change the sound of my voice in videos I record? I have a android internet tablet. I want to make videos but I need an app that changes the voice to a chipmunk for example. I want to use Tre Melvin's videos or Freddy_E's video's on youtube as an example. I' ve looked around an just can't find what I'm looking for. An app like the voice changer camera but for android NOT ipad/iphone.
