Why won't my router give me internet?

Ok so long story short, I recently went out. Like always, I unplug everything from power to avoid future problems. I was gone for one whole day, come back and turn the modem and router back on. The problem? When ever I connect to my Wi-Fi with my iPhone, it shows that it's connected. But the thing is, it won't give me the Internet while I'm connected. I did a trouble shoot on my computer and it said "DNS server isn't responding" I'm open to any suggestions. I just want to use my Wi-Fi.

Unplug modem and router for AT LEAST 30 seconds. Plug in modem. Wait until all the modem lights are on like they are supposed to be. Once all lights are on, plug in the router. Try again

If there's a hardwired computer that can go to the Internet, that means there's nothing wrong with your Internet connection.

Restart everything… Disconnect first your laptop/cellphone/wireless computer from the network/ Make sure you know the password to your network first.

After unplugging the router, modem, wireless computer, (laptop and cellphone), replug them all in the same sequence. Wait for 60 seconds…

Reconnect your wireless computer/laptop/cellphone to the network by connecting to the right SSID/Network name and password.

If the computer/laptop/cellphone still can't connect, restart them for one last time…

If that won't work, time to call a technician.

The DNS server is on your internet service provider's site.
You can do two things"
1. Call your ISP and tell them the DNS server is not working. They should be able to fix the problem on their end.
2. You also can go into your internet properties on your computer and uncheck the "Get DNS automatically then in the dialog box enter:
primary dns 8.8.8.8 secondayr DNS 8.8.4.4
These are for google's Public DNS server than anyone can use.
Read the instructions at the link below for more info.
This should help you,
Al
I have done this before when my ISP had a dns problem.

  • When you give APPLE a defective IPHON do they give you a reconditioned one back? My IPHONE had a defect, still under warranty, so I took it to an Apple MAC store and after a few days they gave it back, supposedly repaired. Now the replaced IPHONE has a problem, different than the previous problem I'm now having a problem with the taking a photo. Do they just replace your phone with a reconditioned one they say no but?
  • What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
  • Turn iPhone into as it were an internet router via USB? Is it possible to use your iPhone as if it were to be an internet router, using a computer's internet connection instead of 3G/4G data? I don't have a data plan, and usually I'm in a place without a hotspot nearby.
  • My internet connection randomly drops until I disconnect and reconnect to the router? My internet connection randomly drops until I disconnect my computer from the router then reconnect. It is only the internet connection that drops, the router signal/connection remains and my NAS can still be accessed. Sometimes it goes hours without loosing connection, sometimes it's minutes. I'm using a macbook pro with mountain lion installed, and the same issue occurs with my iphone. My network set up is essentially the modem > switch > router > laptop/iphone.
