Why won't my iphone restore and update?

Lastnight I decided to update to the IOS 6 on my iphone. Well i figured i wouldnt have any trouble so i went to sleep. I won't up this morning to find that my phone was stuck on one screen and wouldnt do anything else. It has the itunes symbol and then a usb plug in pointing to the itunes symbol.basically telling me to plug my phone up to itunes.well i plug my phone into itunes and it tells me that i need to restore and update so i did.well after two long hours of "restoring and updating" my phone still says the same thing. The screen won't change. I've tried cutting it on and off and it will do that. But thats it. It goes right back to that same screen. I don't know what else to do and i need an answer soon! Please help! Sorry for bad grammar and punctuation i'm just a little ticked at the moment!

You should try putting it into what they call something like DHU mode by toggling the power button and the home button.

Try to uninstall and and install iTunes again.

Also try to Erase All Content and Settings and try update again.
Since you don't get your iTunes working, you can try SharePod or CopyTrans to backup your iPhone before restore.

  • Why does it open a software update when i want to restore my iphone? I'm restoring my iphone, but it only opens a software update that is taking forever to download, even though its a small file. My iphone is already up to date. Why is it doing this and how do i get around it if it isn't necessary?
