It's very confusing and I want to know if anyone has ever bought this for an ipod touch? Or has bought an item similar to this and it worked for your ipod touch? I feel like it won't work for my ipod touch 4th gen cause it keeps on saying it fits on iPhone 4g as well and aren't they completely different size and shapes?

No it won't! The iPhone and iPod Touch have different specs, therefore different cases fit each. It's probably a cheap knock-off from China, if it fits an iPhone, then it'll fit loosely on an iPod Touch. Better to invest in an inexpensive $5 case from Amazon and protect your investment.
