Will updating to iOS 7.1.2 delete anything?
I have a iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1. I need to update it to iOS 7.1.2 because apps are beginning to crash. I'm worried that the update will delete my stuff, especially my contacts and my photos. I have backed up on iTunes but I'm not sure if this includes photos and contacts.
Back your phone up just in case, then go into iTunes and go to your phone then click update. It will probably take a while, like about a hour. You should lose anything at all.
It will not delete anything, unless you pull out the cable in the middle of iTunes update. To be safe, do it directly on the phone.
Many people update over Wi-Fi on just the phone alone. I personally wouldn't do that. Plug your phone i to your computer and update with iTunes. It will sync and safeguard your progress so if something does go wrong, nothing will be deleted.
