Would jailbreaking an iphone unlock it?

If not, what is a way to do it?

Jailbreaking is rooting (if you ever used android before). It unlocks the capabilities of iPhone that normal users wouldn't be able to do (like installing third-party apps). You can't unlock an iPhone by yourself. Don't event try to or you'll end up breaking it.

Jailbreaking and unlocking are very different. If you want to unlock your phone, you'll need to ask the carrier if they offer that service. Usually, it's free, but you may need to pay; it just depends on the carrier. If they don't unlock it, you could possibly use a 3rd party service, but I don't know how well they would work.

Jailbreaking & unlocking are 2 different things. Check with a carrier concerning unlocking.
