Am I the only person who doesn't get Christmas presents?

Christmas is round the corner and it's the time of year where you get your Christmas trees out and start writing your wish lists. Every year I hear that their mum got them an Ipad or their dad got them an iphone and when they ask me 'Oh I didn't get anything'. It's been the same answer for 13 years. I've asked plenty of times why we can't have presents. 'Because we're not Christian, we're Buddhist.' I have a lot of Asian Buddhists friends who all get Christmas presents. I have one friend with a brother and sister and they have a tablet each. I'm not asking for an Ipad. I just would like something as a gist to fit in with my friends. I only got a present once in school from my secret Santa and it was sweets but my sister finished them all. Recently my friend got me a hot chocolate making set but my sister threw it out the window. When I told my dad he didn't do anything. I went outside and cleaned up the glass and marshmallows.

Do you get presents?

I do get presents, but I do know people who don't, jehovah's witness, for example. I'm not relgious, but I celebrate the holidays.
Maybe go out with your friends during holiday break instead of focusing on materialistc things? (Though I know people love their stuff!)

No there are many other releigons that don't celebrate Christmas. Also many folks who have fallen on hard times may not have a Christmas. So you are not alone.

You sound kind of confused. Christmas is a holiday for Christians that celebrates the birth of Christ (aka baby Jesus). Some of the traditions are decorating pine trees, baking sugar cookies, and giving gifts. If your family is Buddhist then it makes sense they wouldn't give out Christmas gifts.

You have a few choices here.

Choice One: Go to a local, open minded church and learn about becoming a Christian. If you believe what they say is true then when you are an adult you can change your religion to become Christian and celebrate Christmas.

Choice Two: Fake it. Many people do "Christmas Things" that are not Christians. Have a gift exchange with friends. Buy gifts and give them out. Nobody is stopping you. Don't expect to get lots of gifts back. That's greedy.

Choice Three: Stop thinking about yourself and do something for others! You can have the holiday spirit without being religious. I've volunteered at animal rescues and they have lists of needed items such as Kong dog toys, blankets, collars, leashes, paper towels, small treats for training dogs, and so on. I'm sure when you call/visit the website of your local animal shelter or rescue they can give you items they really need. Also your time is priceless. Go volunteer at your local pet rescue giving love and time by walking dogs, playing with cats, or cleaning up.
