What does sent as a text message mean? (iphone issue)?
So, i've been using a iphone 5 for a month and i just realized that when i'm using sms, usually my texts send as "green balloons" but sometimes the color turns "blue"and says "sent as a text message"
i'm confused lil bit:/ what does "sent as a text message" mean? And what's the difference between blue and green texts. Will it send to different message box or shows different to who i text?

It probably means it was sent as a text message.
The blue just means it is iphone to iPhone and you are using the Internet. So if the other person is on the phone it will send green because they are unable to use the Internet in a phone call. They are both text messages just one uses the Internet making it faster and the other is SMS. Also if the other user has the Internet turned off on their phone or is in a bad reception area you will see the green bubble as well.
Blue box means the message is being sent by 3G (mobile data) or some other form if Internet. This is called iMessage.
Green box means the message is being sent through the network, and you are being charged for it. Most messages are sent in greenbox, unless you are consantly connected to the Internet. Only people with iPhones are able to receive iMessage aswell (blue box)
"Sent as text message" means that instead of using iMessage, your SMS is being sent through the network ( green box). This will be due to no Internet or mobile data.

Is there any less of a gurentee of the message getting received if "sent as a text message"?
- Will my message be delivered if sent as text message on iphone? My friend said that she was having phone problems earlier today. My message was being sent as an imessage, but I guess she wasn't receiving everyone of them, just getting the notifications that they were sent to her but she couldn't read them. I then responded to her, but it was sent as a text message this time and i have gotten no response. I'm not as much concerned about her responding or not, I just want to know if she will receive the message.

So I sent a text to my cousin who is in basic training now in Missouri, we both have iPhones so usually me and her text on iMessage with the blue messages but this time it says "sent as a text message"in green, Did she get my message?
