APPLE IPHONE 6 Has there been a problem that causes, HIGH DATA USAGE and high bills? - 1
Added (1). We were traveling for an extended period internationally. I finally had to suspend data on my phone and buy and international Sim-Card.
I remember seeing an article yesterday about a problem with the new IPHONE 6 hardware that showed out as HIGH DATA USAGE, that was ultimately charged to the user's plan. I'm starting to search about this before changing my sim-card back to the US card.
If anything try turning off Wi-Fi Assist as well as switching off data for certain apps.
If you were travelling & had roaming enabled that would likely be the cause. Not exclusive the iPhones by the way. Roaming brings high rates no matter what which is why it is usually recommended that you turn that off and/or use Airplane Mode while abroad.
Data usage is entirely dependent on your use. If you're connected to the net and are not using Wi-Fi, you're going to be incurring costs.
Wi-Fi Assist is a feature that uses the cellular network as a backup for spotty Wi-Fi coverage. It can cause a problem if you (e.g.) use the phone for entertainment at home but there are places where the Wi-Fi could cut out unexpectedly. The cellular will kick in and you will be charged the data rate.
Review your cellular settings and turn off Data Roaming, Personal Hotspot, apps that you don't need away from home, and Wi-Fi Assist.
- Why is the data usage on my iPhone so high? I can't figure out what I'm doing that is causing it to be so high. I've compared to family members who seem to use the same if not more than I do. I frequently make sure I have Wi-Fi on hoping this'll reduce it?
- Why is my data usage so high after switching to At&T? When I had my iPhone 4 with Verizon, I used roughly 300MB of data per month. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 5 and switched to AT&T. Yesterday, at the end of the FIRST DAY of the billing cycle, I checked my data usage --- 500MB! I was barely on the phone at all yesterday. I probably checked Facebook 3-4 times and refreshed my twitter feed a couple times as well. I get about 50 e-mails per day. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
- Under settings on my iPhone, does the data usage include Wi-Fi usage? Because its stating a ridiculous amount and I've had my data off… And my Wi-Fi on. Does the total of data include the amount of Internet I'm using when on Wi-Fi? I'm so confused
- My iPhone 6s has no phone case and I've dropped it several times but there has never been any damage The screen hasn't cracked and it still works like new and the phone is as old as when the first iPhone 6s came out. But it's just funny because i Never have a case on it and it's fallen, maybe only 3 feet at most onto wood floors and nothing has happened yet. Anyone else relate?
