Can a rechargeable battery go bad if it's not being used?

Just wondering if I were to to take a brand new iphone and set it down for 2 years, would the battery be as good as it was when I bought it?

Yes, because the passive (for want of a better word) functions of the device still use power, albeit much more slowly

2 years should be fine… 5 or 10 years you would probably notice a diminished capacity in the battery being able to maintain a charge

  • Rechargeable electric lighter? Airport? I'm wondering if anyone has experience traveling with a electric lighter? I bought one to take home and i can't find any info on how i have to store it or if i'm able to bring it with me. Its not a torch. It looks like a mini iphone with a lock switch and when you slide it down it heats up the circle kinda like the car lighter. I can't figure out if i have to put it in my checked or carry on so any info will help.
