Can I buy an Iphone 5 from Verizon, unlock it, then use it on Virgin Mobile?
So this is my first time hearing about unlocking phones, and I have no clue what it means. I've always wanted an Iphone but I can't afford the monthly plan on Verizon (Or anyone else except Virgin Mobile) and I can't afford the price of a new Iphone on Virgin Mobile (500$) Is there a way I could buy a Verizon Iphone on ebay, then unlock it and use it with Virgin mobiles plans? (35$)
If you buy from the carrier it is locked to that carrier. You have to ask them to unlock it and odds are they will not. And doing it yourself is a felony.
The Verizon iPhone 5 was sold unlocked (was discontinued when the iPhone 5c replaced it) but in this case since Virgin Mobile is a CDMA carrier it is up to them whether or not to activate it on their network.
