Can I do a software update on iphone 5 without it being on a plan of any sort?
I bought an iPhone 5 from an individual and it needs a software update but I haven't added the phone on to any plan yet. I've tried to update it numerous times but it always says failed. Do I have to add it to a plan for it to update the software?
You don't need to be on any plan to update, but you do need an internet connection to download the package

- My computer refuses to recognize any sort of driver? It will not acknowledge the presence of any driver inserted, the ones I'm particularly concerned about is my iPod and iPhone. I may have deleted a driver or something? If you have any idea of how I can fix this please help!
- Is there any way i can back up my iphone without it being on? I just got my 5c in December and it just recently stopped charging. I took it to apple and they are sending me a new one tomorrow. I have so many valuable pictures and contacts I would back up if my phone was on, but it won't even charge for me to do that. - If I update my software on my iPhone, will it go back to being locked? About a year ago now, I got my boyfriends old phone - which at the time was locked to o2. I got the phone unlocked as my sim card is Orange. The man said that I had to keep it on the oldest software update, and if I updated it, the iPhone would go back to being locked to o2. HOWEVER, I accidentally deleted some of my apps, which now to get back requires the new software. Does anyone know IF I update it, will it ACTUALLY go back to being locked to o2?
