Can I Preorder The IPhone 6S Without it interrupting my current contract?

I really want to Buy the New IPhone 6S but I don't know if I can? I got this message when I was doing it and I don't know what I Should Do. I Don't wanna cancel my current contract because it's almost over but my phone is broken right now. Here is the message I got: You can purchase a new iPhone. But the remaining contract commitment you have with AT&T still stands.
Your AT&T contract ends on December 18, 2015.
You'll need to select a new AT&T rate plan before you complete your purchase.

Does that mean I will have to purchase a new two year agreement even if I pay full price for it?

If you pay full price, then no you don't have to purchase a two year contract. They are saying that they won't let you out of your current contract, though. If I were you, I would go into one of their stores and talk to them to make sure it doesn't get screwed up in their system. ATT is (in)famous for that.

I think that is a limitation of ordering through AT&T. You should be able to buy an unlocked unit directly from Apple rather than an AT&T unit. Then pop your sim into the new iPhone and just use it.

I have at&t and mine is about like yours as I have 2 months left on contract. I'm just going to wait the 2 months and get a new contract, when I do a trade in my upgrade will basically be free.
