Can I put my T-Mobile sim card into an unlocked IPhone?
I have the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Avant, but I would like to switch my phone to the IPhone 5. If I buy an unlocked IPhone from, let's say Amazon, and put my sim card from my galaxy into that, will I still have calling, messaging, etc?

As long as the unlocked iPhone was a compatible GSM iPhone, yes. As long as the two phones used the same size SIM card, or the larger SIM could be cut down with a SIM cutter go fit a smaller SIM slot.
In most cases of friends going from Micro-SIM to Nano-SIM, they ended up having to get a new Nano-SIM to work, as cutting it down didn't work for them as they were doing it free hand, but using a SIM cutter or at least a template, they should have been fine.
