Can service provider unlock unactivated Iphone 5?
My brother gifted me an iphone5 which he bought from Canada. Since I'm suppose to use it India he didn't get a sim from Koodo his service provider. Now I'm unable to get the phone active without the sim card. I need to unlock my phone to use it in India.
I need to know if the phone is unactivated and in India can the service provider Koodo unlock the iphone5 with the IMEI no. I'm ready to pay the unlock fee, would like to know if it can be done by the service provider over the phone.

Your new service provide can't since they are not the ones who sold you the phone they do not have the IMEI #… Koodo may or may not unlock it your have to ask them. Most companies who sell you the phone do not unlock because it is under the carrier so they would not want to help you use a phone from them with another provider IE they lose money. Your going to most likely have to find a independent company who professional unlock phones. Which should not cost no more than $30-$50 depending on the type of phone you want to unlock. After thats done you can use the u.locked phone with any provider rather you have a sim card or not.
