Can you switch an 8 gig iphone to a 16 without charge?

I have a 16 gig from a friend I use as an iPod. I don't have enough space for music.

If you already have the phone, just switch the sim card out of your old phone. If it isn't an unlocked phone, it has to have been locked to the same carrier you are with.

No. You'd obviously have to pay extra for the extra space.
Switching the SIM card ain't going to help you as the SIM card doesn't store any data except your contacts.

iPhones have their storage space "locked", hardware wise, meaning you can't change it without change the entire phone.

Other phones (Windows based or Android based) use SD cards for storage ontop of the phone's internal storage, meaning you can have a 32 /16 GB phone and add 32 more GB onto it without having to replace your phone.

No, you can't increase the storage capacity of an iPhone.

I'd advise selling the 8GB and purchasing either an iPod or a larger iPhone.

You would have to switch to using the other phone.

  • Would the iphone 5 16 gig suite me if? I had about 500 songs contacts texts more popular aps games (5-10 at any one time) photos internet (Wi-Fi and 33G useage) and other bits and bobs or do you think that i would need the 32gig one.
  • Would I be able to switch carriers without having to switch phones? I'm with Consumer Cellular and I have an iPhone SE, but I'm thinking of switching carriers so that I can get unlimited data. I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?
  • Is the 8 gig iphone 4 enough for me? I would probably use 10 apps at most, and i have 338 songs, and i take some pictures and videos, would it last?
