Confused about my iphone and receiving texts?
Why do i not receive sms with my Wi-Fi/cellular data off? Is this to do with my settings? How do i fix?
The text message does not just appear on phones, you need a signal in order for the phone to be able to recognize the message and interpret it into what you see on the screen. The iPhone uses both Wi-Fi and cellular signals to receive and interpret messages. Its like how you can't make a call when you have bad service, you can't do any of the cellular functions of the phone without some sort of means to receive the message in the first place.

- Why am I not receiving the notifications from texts on my iPhone? I have an iPhone 5 and whenever my girlfriend texts me, I don't feel a vibrate, hear a ring, and when I look at my lock screen, there's nothing there, but when I open it and go to our messages, there's like five messages that I haven't gotten notified for.
