Did I do the right thing and make citizens arrest?

Last week while working in my shop, a young woman entered and instantly I knew she could be in to steal something. I had trouble recently with people stealing goods and I'm sick of it. Anyway, I was keeping my eye on her and she suddenly grabbed another customers iPhone and ran out of the shop. So I chased her down the street. I was never going to catch her as I was trying to run in tight jeans! So I shouted at people to stop her. Luckily another woman grabbed her and slowed her down. I then caught up with her and I wrestled her to the ground. I then sat on her chest and pinned her arms down with my knees. A few people then gathered around and I told them that she was a thief and asked someone to phone the police. Now this is the part were I feel really bad about the ordeal. I had to sit on her for about 15 minutes to wait for the police to arrive. She was shouting that she could not breath, so every few seconds id lift up a bit so she could catch her breath. When the police finally arrived, they searched her and found the stolen iPhone. The police congratulated me for doing this along with the small crowd of people. I now feel bad with what I did that day. Restraining someone like that is not a nice thing to do anyone. Do you think I done the right thing? Sorry about the essay by the way!

No. Trust no one help no one and especially don't help the police, they are not your friend.

Well, you did the right thing; but in doing so opened up your store to litigation. Probably won't hold up in court since she was caught red handed, but still.

The cops liked what you did. Why feel guilty for doing the right thing? Because you made her uncomfortable for a few minutes? SHE'D intended to make the person she stole from uncomfortable for MONTHS. You did right.

Why question yourself? What you done was great! You have my Admiration.

Yes, now be sure to show up at the trial or she may sue you

People, this is a troll, don't feed the troll.

Nope

Yes. You did the right thing, making citizens arrest are but a few now a days. People tend to just look the other way if someone will try to rob or steal anything. Because none of them would like to be involved in such a dangerous play. The only thing you done wrong is sit on the person's chest, which you can easily corrected if you only stand her up, and hold her two hands behind her back or hold her shirt or pants so that she will be unable to run just in case she will try. And wait for the police.

You did the right thing and also got lucky.
Lucky in the sense that for those 15 minutes, you won the fight.
If you had lost the fight, would it have been worth it for an iPhone?

Congratulations and thank you for getting involved.

  • What does the arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou mean for the US and Canada if she isn't released? I had a few questions regarding her arrest. What could China do if she isn't released? I saw that China has banned iPhones today, could this start a war between The US/Canada and China? Will this just be a "Technology Cold War?" China says there will be major consequences if she isn't released… What could these consequences be?
  • I did the iphone crack ink thing? But I hate it. Is there any way to some how take out the ink or the best way to cover it up? (its a tiny crack in the bottom corner) I know I'm not supposed to color the front but I did it on the FRONT. Next to the home button. ANY SUGGESTIONS! … Its actually ink like sharpie ink. You know the thing ppl do when they crack their phone, they color inside the cracks…

  • Is Corporatism a bad thing or a good thing? I think its a good thing because without it we wouldn't have the things we have today like Xbox 360 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and Android and IPhones and other things. Face it without Corporatism we wouldn't be where we're today all of our success and technology and medical breakthroughs has Corporatism to thank. Socialism could have never created the technologies and things we use today.
