Did I do wrong? Is this considered stealing?
I work at a company were tons of people tend to pass through. One day as I was casually walking through the parking lot before getting into the building I happen to run into an iphone 6. Instead of turning it in to the lost and found I decided I was going to deliver the device personally to its rightful owner (because I couldnt trust leaving it there) so I placed it in to my vehicle. A fellow coworker happened to ask people if they had found a device and I gladly told them I had it. I led them to my vehicle and gave it to them. Now i'm thinking I made a mistake since I may seem to look as a thief towards the company, specially since no one knew my intentions. Am I in the wrong even after I turned it in? Was this considered stealing? Can I even use this place as a recommendation anymore (worked here for over 8 years) In case I decide to work elsewhere?
Added (1). The phone wasn't password protected but since I was running late I couldnt call or check to see if there was a facebook account I could leave a post in to. I had lost something of great value to me, checked there for a two weeks to see if anything showed up but nothing. Turns out that one of the days I was off, someone happened to have found the pair and turned them in. Only thing is that the same day an employee decided to dig through and took my shades but I never found out who took them.
Added (2). This all happened in the span of an hour. Never saw the owner but he did leave a phone number which I personally saw a coworker call to alert them that their device was found.
You did very well! Based on your text I think you are considered to be a trustworthy and helpful coworker, so no one in their right mind should consider you a thief. Had you stolen the phone, why would you then happily admit you have it?
I'm just curious, how were you going to find out who the phone belongs to, and why would you not trust the lost&found? In any case I think you did the right thing. Don't worry.
Well… We don't know details of the person asking about the device and you telling them you had it. Did they start asking right away, or was it a couple days later? If it was a couple days later, did you put up a sign or anything telling people you'd found an iPhone if someone lost one?
Depending on how you handled it, you may indeed look guilty.
Unless someone has accused you, you shouldn't worry about being looked at as a thief. Your main problem is if a long time passed after you found it, and you didn't make any good faith effort to find the owner. Did you find contact information in the phone? Did you post signs or notify security you'd found it? Anything?
Based on your description, your behavior wasn't wrong, but wasn't necessarily the best option. I would have at least passed the word that If anyone was missing the iPhone, they should contact you.
That said, the ONLY reasons I can see why a RATIONAL person would even thing this could be considered theft is if someone had actually accused them, or they had actually intended to keep the phone.
- Why did my photo go in the wrong album? I have an iPhone, so I upload photos to FB using that. They've always gone in my iOS album, and I've never had any problems until yesterday. A photo that I put on FB using my phone went into an album called mobile uploads (that's an existing album from before I got the iPhone). How did this happen, and how do I fix it? Do I have to reupload the photo, or can I move it to the appropriate album?
- What did i do wrong with my music on my iphone? Okay so I usually use my cousins laptop to put new music onto my iPhone 4.It's usually worked without a problem but this last time I put new music onto it something happened. My playlists disappeared and when I scrolled through my songs some of them were a faded gray and now I can't play them or swipe them to delete the song. What did I do wrong or what happened at least?

- Is there something wrong with my phone or is there something wrong with my mom's phone? Ok so when I attempt to call my mom, it doesn't ring it just goes straight to voicemail but doesn't show on my mom's phone that she had a missed called. My messages won't go through either, but her calls and messages come through to me. We both have iPhones and they are both on. I can text everyone else, call everyone else but her.
