Do I need iPhoto on my Mac and iPhone for it to sync correctly?

Do I have to have it installed on both devices for iCloud to properly sync? Or just my Mac? I'm running iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4s and Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro

You just need iPhoto on your Mac (is there even iPhoto for iPhone?) and you have that already.

All you need is to start iPhoto on your Mac and to plug your iPhone to your Mac. IPhoto will automatically recognize your iPhone and offer to import your photos (and videos).It will also offer to remove them from your iPhone. If you prefer to retain them on your iPhone, then IPhoto will remember and not re-import them next time.

Once photos are imported you can start organizing them using iPhoto. By default you will get one iPhoto "event" per day.

Now if you are using iCloud to share your photo stream then you should not even need to connect your iPhone since the photos will then be automatically pushed down to your Mac. All you need then is to copy and organize them.

Make sure you have turned on Photo Streaming on the iPhone:

Settings > Photos > Photo Stream > On

and on the Mac:

System Preferences > iCloud > Photo Streaming

and probably in Preferences for iPhoto too.

  • New itunes won't sync music correctly? I downloaded the latest version of itunes and i see a lot has changed with appearance. Anyways I have a iphone 3g that i use as my ipod, and have never had problems syncing music too. When i clicked sync on the new itunes it says that it is syncing but when i check my iphone, the newer songs aren;t on there. Then i deleted some songs but when I synced they were still on the iphone after the sync. I don't understand why this is happening can someone please help me out?
  • IPhoto won't sync photos to iPhone 5C? I synced all my old phones photos to iPhoto. Now I've connected my new phone and I've tried everything. When I go onto iTunes and sync all iPhoto photos after the whole things done the photos don't appear on the phone. What am I doing wrong?
  • Iphone 4s music won't sync correctly? I have downloaded all of my music onto my iphone 4s and it was working perfectly. I recently downloaded the iOS 6.0.1 and now whenever i put new music on it, the names of the songs are shaded grey on the songs list on my phone and they won't play. Any ideas?
  • IPhone 4s doesn't sync correctly with itunes? I have the latest updates for both iphone and itunes. every i try to let's say… Delete a song off of my iphone from itunes, it will delete but then it freezes for a minute or two. Or if i try to change a name of something on my phone it will do it, but then freeze for a minute. Just basically if i make any changes on my phone through itunes it freezes. It just gets really aggravating and i know this isn't supposed to happen.someone please help
