Does leaving an Iphone plugged after it's been fully charged cause the battery to die fast? - 1

Added (1). Does it really cause the battery life over time?

No. There are lots of daft theories about this sort of thing. There was a fashion a few years ago for telling people that you shouldn't charge your phone too often or it would 'remember' that you charged it often and it would lose its charge more quickly. It was total nonsense but everyone believed it. You seldom if ever hear that mentioned now.

No. Like all lithium polymer rechargeable batteries, the charging circuitry very accurately measures the level of battery charge and then cuts the output down to a maintenance charge only when fully charged.

My five year old iPhone 4 is left on charge whenever I'm not using it but still works just fine on the original battery lasting all day between charges. My iPhone 5s gets the same treatment and now that it's almost a year old the battery still works like new.

It's probably a hangover from over ten years ago when many phones still used bulky Nickel Cadmium rechargeable batteries. NiCads suffer from something called memory effect which means they display a serious loss of performance if they are recharged before being fully drained. The later Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and modern Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries do not suffer from memory effect.

No. IPhones don't overcharge.

  • Why does my iPhone battery die so fast? I have boost magic, which is supposed to help my battery last longer, and I kill all my apps when I'm done using them. I go from 100 at 8am and I'm at 60 by 9:30am. And I hardly use it too, just to look up information quickly and I just set my phone aside. I let it go down to 20% battery and let it charge over night. It just started doing this recently. I also keep my brightness to pretty much 0 with the auto brightness on. And it still dies fast. What can I do?
  • Why Does My iPhone 5S Battery Die So Fast? It is already 10:10am and my phone is at 65% ALREADY! Why is my iPhone dying so fast. I haven't even been using it that much.
  • Why does my iPhone 5c battery die so fast? It started dying when my charger started messing up. Like I have to turn my charger a certain way. But I ordered a new charger, it's currently being shipped to my home. Also when my phone is on lockscreen and I come back to it my phone battery percentage be down a lot. My brightness is down, and I close my background apps. And turn Wi-Fi off when I don't need it. What's is wrong?
  • Why does my iPhone 5 battery die so fast? Yesterday I left my phone to charge over the night and today about 8:20am I skyped my dad! I was talking to him on Skype for about 1:10 hours and then i didn't use it at all! Now my phone at 12:10pm is 50%. Why is it dieng so fast! Pissed as f*ck
