Does receiving texts use data?

Hi. I have an IPhone 5C (I use Verizon). I don't have a shared data plan. My family has the plan where each of us get 2GB a month. My question is does receiving texts when you are not on Wi-Fi use data? Because I'm in a group message and they text a lot but I rarely respond but I'm constantly receiving text messages (the blue texts not the green ones) So does this use data?

I believe that it does but but when your connected to Wi-Fi it dosent

No.

The "blue texts" aren't texts those are instant messages through the iMessage service & they require some form of internet access to get either Wi-Fi/data

  • Why does my iPhone sometimes send texts to other iPhones as iMessages then regular texts to iPhones? Like when I send a text to my friend that has an iphone, it usually sends as an iMessage then it will randomly send as just a regular text and it will be green and not blue.
  • Why am I not receiving the notifications from texts on my iPhone? I have an iPhone 5 and whenever my girlfriend texts me, I don't feel a vibrate, hear a ring, and when I look at my lock screen, there's nothing there, but when I open it and go to our messages, there's like five messages that I haven't gotten notified for. Is this a bug or glitch with the iPhone 5 or is there a fix for this?
  • Why am I not receiving texts on my iPhone? I know people send me texts but my phone doesn't receive it. I called someone and then all my texts popped up at once. It seems like I can only receive my text if I make an outgoing call. I'm with Virgin Mobile by the way.
  • Not receiving texts on iphone? I just recently got an iPhone 4s on sprint and everything is working fine. I just started talking to this person and he's been calling and asking why I'm not answering his texts. Thing is I'm not recievig any but I can get them from other people. I'm not sure how to fix this Already registered, just this one person I'm having a problem with
