Dropped iphone in the toilet

Reached into my coat pocket to get my keys, out pops my iphone and it goes right into the toilet. It was in there for probably 4 seconds. I pulled it out and immediately dried it off. I clicked the lock button and it turned on, i continued to dry it off and then it shut itself off. I put it in a bag of rice about 6 hours ago, i tried to turn it on and nothing so far, i thought the screen flickered a little but i can't be sure.isn't the headphones jack supposed to turn pink if it has sustained water damage? Mine isn't pink.i'm going to keep it in rice for the weekend but has trying to turn it on ruined it? Should i just leave it alone for 2 days?

Added (1). After 8 hours my iphone started vibrating in the bag of rice. It tried to reboot itself for about 10 minutes and kept telling me to plug it into itunes. It wouldnt let me restore it but then it started working kind of normally. The screen flickers a little and it tweaks occasionally and goes to voice control. The home button doesn't work at all but the top button does.inside the headphones jack is pink. I turned it back off and placed it back in the bag of rice. I was going to keep it in there for another 24-48 hours. If everything comes back and works normally accept the home button, can the home button be replaced? I don't want to have to get a brand new phone if i just need a new home button!

6 hours isn't enough in rice. Leave it in rice for like 2-3 days and you should be good.

Put it in a bowl of rice for 48 hours in nothing happens bring it to an apple store

You put it in rice? R-I-C-E? Rice?

WTF?

Why rice? The craziest thing i've ever heard!

Rice?!

You've got to slow cook a phone that's been in the toilet for 4hrs on a medium heat. Everyone knows you don't put it in rice

Yes, leave it in the rice until its completely dry. Same thing happened to me. I put it in a ziplock bag full of rice immediately after trying to shake out the excess water with spurts of taking a blow dryer to it every day. Once it was almost completely dry (2.5 days), I was able to power it back on and use it. For about a week afterwards, I did have some trouble with the touch screen. I could see little water pockets under the glass but it dried up and my iphone was good until I was able to upgrade 4 months later.
