Going on the run w an iPhone?

Let's just say that someone I know, is on juvenile probation. And today they got caught by there parents doing something dumb they should not have been doing and then their parents snitched them out to his/her probation officer. Thankfully his/her probation officer was not at work so they had to leave a voice mail. Now, let's just say this person now wants to go on the run. Because they don't want to go back to jdc. This person also has an iPhone 5s. Would it be safe to bring the phone or do you think that they would be able to track it? -and please, I don't not want/need any lectures about facing your problems or being mature or growing up or any of that dumb ****, just answer the question please

This will only make that persons situation worse, don't run away from problems face them head on.

More than likely they can track it.
By the GPS in the phone
By serial number
By your cell phone provider
Using cell phone towers to triangulate
etc

Not condoning this or anything, just answering the question about tracking.
