Hong Kong - Ireland Customs charges and other charges I might face?
Okay so basically I own an iphone repair shop. Currently buying them from a supplier and reselling. I recently came across a legit supplier in Hong Kong and i think its time to cut out the middle man. Please don't tell me to contact apple, I don't need 500 phones at once! Haha. And this company is totally safe, they buy them, refurb and sell.
Basically I'm interested to know after I pay for the items (first test order for x5 devices) and they are shipped by FedEx Int'l Priority (3 days); will I encounter other problems? VAT, Custom Duties, Custom charges etc?
Also could you tell me because I'm confused, if I buy within EU are phones Duty free? Would it be better to buy within Europe?
Any advice or views on the best and cheapest thing to do would be appreciated!
Yes you will face customs charges and VAT. You won't pay customs on the price you pay - customs duty is charged on the full retail value in Ireland. So if an iPhone sells for 500 euro, then your customs duty will be based on a 500 euro value, even if you only paid 100 euro for the phone
Duty is 17% on anything valued at over 150 euro, and on top of that you will be charged 23% VAT -- so you are adding 40% to the price of anything you are importing from Hong Kong. It would be cheaper to buy within Europe where you are not charged any duty
- How much is the iPhone 5 in Hong Kong? I have heard Hong Kong is selling the iPhone 5 at a premium price as it is. Limited stock some say they are selling at twice the apple rate. Does anyone know whether this is still true? Also, do you think the hong kong airport will sell it?
- How long will it take for something to ship from Hong Kong to Illinois? I ordered a iPhone case off of Amazon and its from Hong Kong and I ordered it like last month and it still hasn't came, does it take this long to ship to Illinois? It clearly says that its shipped from Hong Kong, so I'm positive its from there
- How long will it take for a package to ship from Hong Kong to Ohio? I bought a lilo and stitch iphone case off of amazon 2&a half weeks ago and it's shipping from Hong Kong, i live in ohio. I got the shipping conformation the next day and shipping was free. How long do you think it'll take to get here?
- How long does it usually take for something to ship from Hong Kong? I purchased a mic and an iPhone cover from eBay and it says that it has been shipped, but when I clicked on the details of the item it says that it is preparing shipment and the other item says that it has been accepted. The item description says that est.delivery will be on Tues Apr. 2 - Thurs. Apr.18, and so does the other one. I realized that the est, delivery was adding on a day. Should I contact the seller or just wait?
