How much does an iPhone 4S cost?

If you get a used one, maybe about $200 less.
It depends on which phone company you have. Also, whether your contract is up or not. And if you're ready for an update. I have Verizon, and I'd assume that AT&T or something would be about the same. An iPhone 4S, assuming you are have an update coming up, is $100 at Verizon. If you are not ready to upgrade or hit contract is not yet up, it costs about $400.
Isn't it a shame that Apple & all the cellular providers that offer the iPhone don't have websites? If they did, you could find out for yourself.
