I have 7 months to go in my contract, but my phone is horrible and I really want the iPhone 5; how much does it cost to cancel my contract?
Depends on the phone. Usually around $100 for a non-smart phone.
Honestly I don't see the good of getting an iphone 5 but do what you want. It would be 150 dollars to terminate the plan.

Easy answer.
If it is a smart phone it is $350 dollars, MINUS $10 a month for the completed part of the contract.
If it is a basic phone it is $175 dollars, MINUS $5 a month for the completed part of the contract.
So lets do the math.
Smart phone - $350 - $170 (17 months completed x $10) = $180 to cancel
Basic phone - $175 - $85 (17 months completed x $5) = $90 to cancel
